Good Rats

My friend Kevin took me to a Good Rats concert last night.  They’re a longtime Long Island band, which is where I grew up.  I have zero memory of having ever seen them.  This is not my type of music so if I ever went to one of their concerts I would never have gone again.  I’d describe it as blue collar rock and roll, “greaser” music.  But the lead singer can really sing, they were all good musicians, really good, and there was a friendly family feel to the mostly older audience.  I could have done without the lead singer simulating masturbation with a beer bottle and then spraying the audience (and me) with beer. My clothes were fresh out of the laundry!  (When you don’t have a washer and dryer and have to take your clothes somewhere to be cleaned this is a bigger deal.)

The audience was mostly men who knew all the words and frequently sang along and pumped their fists in the air.  But my movie begins with this song where they invited all the women up onto the stage.  I was afraid it was going to be a major ick moment, but it was sweet in reality.

Pigeon of the Day

Hey pige (soft g).

That’s a pigeon in the building across the street. Plus, I’m shooting through a dirty window.  Pretty amazing, considering.

My goal is to get a shot that really shows the red of their feet.  I wonder if my on-the-way new computer with iphoto will help.  Where is my computer day?

I just checked.  It left Grove City, OH just after midnight.

Well, onto the couch and People Magazine.

I drummed!

I had a wave of “every day is a gift” and headed uptown to drum. Here’s a shot of part of our audience. Now I can be a slug for the rest of the day, guilt free.

Finister — Like Sinister! (Get it?)

I know it’s not as good if you have to explain.  But Finister is my new nickname for Finney.

Don’t worry about Buddy.  As far as I can tell they take turns being the aggressor. Neither one seems to be the bully of the other.

I still have to decide about going to Grand Central to drum.

Hmm.

Feeling lazy.

Not looking good.

Drum or curl up with the cats and read People Magazine?

Hmm.

By the way, I got up at 6:30.  How did it get to be 7:30 already?  Time, how do you do that??

Good News at the Vet

Buddy is gaining weight!! YAY!!  Thank the lord, even though I don’t think there’s a lord.  But just in case.

So yeah.  Good news.  Sigh.

He’s just spotted a pigeon here.  Cat owners will recognize that “just spotted a bird” expression.

Did I mention I bought a new computer?  I bought a refurbished Macbook from Apple. Even though it’s refurbished it’s still the latest model, and it comes with the same warranty.

I can’t wait to play with all the new toys.  I signed up for classes to learn Leopard (I’m still using Tiger) iphoto and imovie.

Pretty soon I will be able to make better pictures and better movies, woohoo!

It’s due to arrive on Wednesday and my first class is Thursday morning.

By the way, my band is playing at Grand Central Station tomorrow morning, something to do with Earth Day.  I’m thinking of going.  Should I go?  I’m so unpracticed, but still.  I think the main reason I’m hesitating is we’re supposed to march around, parading and drumming, which can be fun, but it’s kinda hard to do, and I might mess up being so unpracticed.
