Hide me!

Is she done cleaning yet??  YES.  Mostly.  The apartment is completely, spotlessly, clean.  Two big jobs are left.

First, all my clothes.  Every Spring Cleaning and every Holiday Cleaning I try to pare down my clothes to only those that fit now, and those that I actually wear.  I always fail.  For instance, right now I have a bunch of relatively expensive tops I bought last Spring that just don’t look good on me.  I can’t bring myself to admit I wasted my money (something I don’t have a lot of). Plus, I don’t enjoy clothes shopping.  I blame my mother.  All those times waiting waiting waiting bored to the point of physical pain while she tried on clothes.  Sorry, mom.

Second, the window guys are coming on Monday!  Woohoo!!  Sparkling clean windows are such a mood enhancer!

Day Two of Spring Cleaning

I ache!  Like I finished a marathon workout.  Today it’s the bathroom and the bedroom. Tomorrow it will be more fun stuff. One, going through my clothes and getting rid of what doesn’t fit or doesn’t look good, or is too raggedy, and two, re-arranging the bookshelves.  I got rid of a few hundred books and I have to arrange what’s left.

Meanwhile, Michelle Obama is perfect.  PERFECT.

American Idol Round-Up

Adam is going to win and he deserves to win, but even when the judges are complimenting Kris and Allison they’re not giving them enough credit.  For instance, Danny can sing, really sing, but I actually thought Kris was better last night, PLUS, he is a thousand times more charismatic. (Sorry.) I love to watch him.  I thought Come Together was going to be boring, but there is something magnetic about Kris’s voice even when he’s not doing something particularly show-y. Everything doesn’t have to be the show stopping pizazz of an Adam.  A quieter greatness is every bit as great.  I loved Kris’s low notes, by the way.  Loved them.

AND, when Adam and Allison had their duet, I thought she was better.  I’m guessing I’m going to be alone in thinking that, but there was something almost too polished and perfect about Adam, a little bit phoning it in and predictable, and she was more raw, more real.  She put her heart into it.

I voted for the first time this season.  Five times for Kris.  I should have voted for Allison too, maybe.  I voted for Kris because I thought he might be the one in trouble.

Here’s a cool ornament I saw on a building on Fifth Avenue the other day.  “Hey.  You people down there. Do not ignore me.  I am Angry Head Man.”  Except he doesn’t really look angry, does he?  More just like a man with a point to make.

You’re Welcome in Advance

Stuck inside on a rainy day??

Well, never mind about that.  I give you kitten-cam! Beware.  It’s hard to look away.

I’m doing my best to keep my spirits up in spite of disappointment after disappointment.  I need something good to happen.

Or a miracle.

Or a better attitude.

Or a puppy.

Yeah, I’m going with puppy.  Okay, no, the attitude thing.

Friday I start Spring cleaning.  That will help.  It never fails to give me a nice, fresh start feeling.  I’m deciding whether or not I can afford to have my windows cleaned.  After the new computer splurge money is a little tight!

Supernatural and Castiel

I posted this on a blog somewhere just now and I wanted to post it here.

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOST RECENT EPISODE.

I wanted to repost it here because I loved the backstory about Jimmy, the person who essentially sacrificed his life for Heaven (and his daughter).  And I’ve heard some negative buzz about this last episode and I think it was one of the best of the season, and that the show just keeps getting better and better.

I love that the angel Castiel is such a complicated character (and as someone else said, Misha Collins is one of the best actors to have appeared on the show).  His decisions carry adult, moral weight and like every real decision in life, just identifying what is the right thing to do is not clear cut and easy or without consequences and sacrifice.  The right thing to do doesn’t always equal happy ending for all. Castiel is a more fearsome good guy, just as I imagine an angel would be if there was such a thing as angels.

In fact, just give Casteil/Misha his own show.  I would love a show about angels where the angels are depicted like this, not at all like Touched by an Angel, more like the angels in Wings of Desire if the angels in Wings of Desire were also warriors like Castiel.  Loving but terrifying.

I’m dying to know what Castiel was going to tell Dean, and what happened in Heaven to change his mind about telling him.

Which reminds me, I also likewise love that God and Heaven are not sugary, light fairytale depictions, but carry the same weight and ambiguitythat I described above.
