Thank you!! And the Soundtrack for Heaven

I was so excited to see new reviews for my book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble this morning. Thank you!!  I really appreciate it!!  You guys are the best!!

This picture is of Sir John Tavener, a British composer I love.  The Rubin Museum is premiering a new work of his on April 23rd and I’m trying to decide if I can afford it.  Information and tickets are available here. It’s stupid.  It’s a wonderful opportunity.  I should just go. Here’s what a critic said of his music.

“If you had to pick the soundtrack for heaven, the music of Sir John Tavener would probably feature prominently.” — Aidan Goldstraw, Express and Star.

He’s also known for a piece that was sung at Princess Diana’s funeral called Song for Athene.  And he did music for the movie Children of Men.

It’s $95 for priority seating and a discussion beforehand with the composer, or $40 for the concert only.  Damnit.  What to do, what to do??

Groveling

Forgive me, but if you’ve read my book and if you like it, please go to Amazon or Barnes & Noble and post a review. There’s only one (thank you Teresa).

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

A million times, thank you.

(I hate to ask.)

(But it’s murder out there people.)

I’m going to go crawl under the covers and hide now.

With a cat or two.

That reminds me, there’s like four new tv shows premiering this week that look good.

Substitute Camera Experiments

While I wait for my camera to be repaired I tried using a disposable camera and my old Holga, a plastic toy camera.  The first results back are from the disposable, which I took to a one hour photo place, and this is the best of the lot. It’s a store front … I forget the name of the store!  I’ll check the next time I go by, but they sell “curiosities.”  This is their Easter window, clearly.  I was drawn to the Alice in Wonderland box.

The quality is inferior, but there’s something charming about the lack of quality.

Why oh Why Can’t I Marry Them??

It’s

just

not

fair.

I would be good to you both, I swear.

I liked how on Post Secret one of the secrets this morning was how the sender would watch announcements of Barack Obama winning and it never failed to cheer them up.

Works for me.

Meanwhile, haven’t left the house yet!

LOSAH.

I have been working on the Missa Solemnis though, so I’m going to pronounce myself a half-losah.

So there, you self-loather you!  You only get to loath yourself half as much.

Sunday in the City

I’m going to a panel today called “How God Changes Your Brain” at the Rubin Museum.  Should be good.  Actually, I should post about this on my Unbelievable blog.  Maybe I will.  Maybe after. I can talk about how it was.

While I’m waiting for my camera to be repaired I got film for my plastic toy camera, it’s a Holga. I’m going to bring it out with me today, I’ll see how that goes.  I’m also going to try to pick up film for my old Polaroid Spectra.

In the meantime, I’m bringing back a picture of Buddy that I love.  Look at that face.
