Live From My Bedroom

rusty
Where I am holed up with my friend’s cat, trying to get him to be okay with me so he doesn’t bite me again when I try to give him his insulin injection.

I am the “go to” person for all my friends who have cats with special needs. But this cat HATES me. I couldn’t get near him last night to give him his shot. He growled and hissed and I knew better. This morning he was still growling, but I was concerned about him missing two shots so I just kinda darted in and got him before he had a chance to react.

Then he bit me. It hurt. Not horribly. I’m fine. But I only got that one shot in because I had surprise on my side. He’s onto me now. So I’m sitting quietly with him in the bedroom with the door closed, trying to get him used to me.

That’s him on the floor, sleeping just a few feet away from me so, so far so good with plan I think. This cat has a gorgeous face. I’ll try to get a shot at some point.

Take Me Home, City Roads

My meeting out in Queens was okay. It was not what I dreaded it might be. This week is insanely busy though. I like having more space around each thing I have to do, but this week it’s going to be rushing from one thing to the next, although most of the things are fun so I shouldn’t complain. Today I’m having lunch with an old friend and then I’m going to Grace Church to meet with their archivist, and going through archives is pretty much my favorite thing to do in all the word.

I took this driving back into the city from Queens.

Going out to Queens

This is the first and absolute time I’m going to do this, I’ve decided. The family member of a murder victim asked me to attend a meeting with the detective working on the case and I agreed. It’s not that I don’t like to help, I do, but so often it ends up being a no win situation for all involved.

I took this picture of the inside of an old subway car in Red Hook, Brooklyn. I was going to say abandoned, but that’s not quite correct. It was abandoned initially, but now it remains on purpose. It could be hauled away but people like it there.

Getting Ready for the Aykroyds

Dan Aykroyd’s father Peter Aykroyd has written a book called The History of Ghosts, for which Dan provided the introduction. They’re both giving a presentation at the 92nd Street Y next Sunday and I’m going to introduce them! Then after their presentation I’m going to ask them some questions and then moderate an audience Q&A after that.

Today is dedicated to getting ready. I’ll be finishing up my introduction and then I’ll come up with questions. That part should be pretty easy. I’ve been answering and asking questions about this subject since March.

Here’s a picture of a house one block over on Perry. I’m positive I photographed this same house last year at Halloween. They do a good job of dressing up their place for the holiday. I mean, look at this!
