Back to Work

I had two days off (three actually, I called in sick on Monday) and I feel like I got a decent amount of work done. Still, not enough. But I figured out the structure for the next chapter and that is big. For me, anyway. Now that I know what I’m going to say it’s fun to figure out how. Figuring out outline: not fun. Filling in the blanks: fun.

I saw this dress hanging outside a building yesterday. A college roommate of mine when I was at the Museum School had a dress very much like this. She did a painting of it, I believe, but she also put the actual dress up on the wall as decoration. It was an usual thing to do at the time and I loved how it looked up there. I also took a picture of her in it which made me very happy because it came out okay and I was used to thinking of myself as not being good at portraits. I should dig it out. Her name was Linda Dennis.

Anyway, I saw this and I thought, Linda Dennis would do this. She would display a dress on a fire escape like this.

So You Think You Can Dance

Here is how I feel about the new format of So You Think You Can Dance. Although I love seeing the all stars again, I really do, I actually find their presence confusing and distracting. I watch them but I can’t help feeling I should be focusing on the people who are actually competing. It’s hard to explain. I can’t just relax and enjoy the dance.

I also can’t immediately tell who is who and I waste time trying to pick out the contestant from the all star, once again preventing me from just relaxing and enjoying the dance. It’s weird, but there it is. It’s a psychological thing.

I’ll see how it works tonight when there’s one all star and one contestant dancing at a time. Maybe it will work better. But from last week, I LOVED Pasha dancing with the two girls, and Travis’s routine.

And here is one of my most lovable fur blobs. You can still see where his fur was shaved off on his belly, even though it’s been months and it’s mostly grown back.

Perception

catalano
The grandson of one of the scientists I wrote about in Unbelievable has written a book called Perception! It is available here or here. From the description:

“Hugh Lambert is a man of many problems: problems with professors, problems with his punk rock housemates and, most of all, problems with women. A parapsychology student in the Reagan era, Hugh has no job prospects and only one friend—Abby Stoltz, a profane and ever-indignant artist. But then, late one night, Hugh accepts a Tarot reading from a beautiful stranger, and everything begins to change.”

I love the title and the cover!!

More Statues

I was walking back home and I couldn’t resist taking more pictures of the statues from Event Horizon. There are tons! Where have I been?? Here is one on the Flat Iron building.

And there are two in this shot. Can you spot them? Yeah, it’s easy I know. I think these statues are beautiful up there. I don’t think “jumper.” It makes me think of the angels in Wings of Desire.

Ha!

I mean “ew!” I still fully intend to talk about So You Think You Can Dance. But I’m trying to get some work done today.
