Working on my Day Off

I changed my days off to Wednesday and Thursday this week. The Census is ending soon and so today we’re having a feast. All these people are cooking and bringing in food and I don’t want to miss the food and fun.

This is one of the streets in the neighborhood I work. I love this neighborhood. It goes from supremely tacky, like this, and lovely old New York on the very next block. And of course the tacky blocks are filled with some very pretty buildings too. It’s completely schizophrenic, and although normally I don’t like this kind of crappy look, it works for me down here.

Baseballs?

baseballs
So who put those baseballs up inside the WTC cross? (In case there’s anyone who hasn’t read about these steel beams, they were found during the rescue period.) That’s really high up, as you can see below. What do they mean??

I’m tired. I’m going to start planning a week vacation. I have to take it at home, and not spend any money, but thankfully I live in a city where I can have a great time for a week doing free things.

Number 1: Sit on the river and read a book that is not work related.

Broadway, UGH!!

Ugh, when you’re in a hurry. It’s always packed with people who have all the time in the world, apparently. I was going to take pictures of my walk home, but I ran errands instead. So tomorrow. I’ll give a tour from the financial district to the WTC to home.

Here I’m about to cross Canal Street and head up Broadway.

Forever Creepy?

I was taking pictures of some reflections on a building down at the WTC when a plane went by. A plane and a New York City building—still kinda creepy. Here are the reflections.

Here is the plane. Well, maybe not so bad. Maybe it’s just me.

Hmmmm

I don’t know about being a gallery guide down at the WTC. It involves giving presentations to school groups which sounds even more nerve wracking than the presentations you have to give on the tours. I have zero experience with children. I don’t know. I have to give this some thought.

I took this heading out of the subway, when I got back home. Hey! That guy looks a little Johnny Depp-ish, doesn’t he?
