My TV is Fixed and Better Than Ever!

Time Warner fixed my screw-up yesterday, although I was right about tinkering with that particular setting. Once we got it right the picture is a thousand times better. It’s like having a new tv!! Watching tv yesterday was such a pleasure.

My brother Douglas took a picture of my choir where you can see me!

Busy Week

I’m going to be on WNPR’s The Colin McEnroe Show, this Wednesday, December 11, between 1:00 pm-2:00 pm, to talk about singing. Should be good, there are going to be a number of interesting people on along with me, including Daniel Levitin, AND a few young choral singers.

Then on Saturday, December 14, from 8 – 10 pm I’m going to be out on Long Island at The Crooked Rail in East Northport for a book event they are calling: Stacy Horn’s Holiday Harmonies. It’s basically a holiday sing-along with beer.

We were lucky to have the artist Eleni Mylonas in the audience for one of our concerts and she took this fantastic picture of us! Thank you, Eleni (and thank you for letting me post it).

The Unthinkable: I May Have Broken My TV

I changed the output resolution setting in my Time Warner DVR box to 720p and my picture went haywire and I couldn’t read the menus to put it back. Someone from Time Warner sent me the instructions (click over 4, etc.) so I should have been able to put it back without seeing the menus but it didn’t work.

Replacing that DVR box with a new one work didn’t either, but maybe the output resolution was set to 720p, which is not compatible with my tv. A technician is coming on Monday, but he’d still need to hook that box up to another tv or device to see the settings.

I can’t believe this isn’t fixable. I called the manufacturer of my tv and he said that setting has to be changed from another device, and from everything I’ve read I can’t reset this tv back to factory settings. It’s old, it’s a Panasonic CT-30WX15.

Cross your fingers for me please.

Update: I just realized, nothing is changed on my tv, my tv can’t be broken. If my tv can’t do 720p the DVR couldn’t have set it to that somehow. So the only problem is that the DVR box has settings that are not compatible with my tv. It’s the DVR that has to be fixed, not my tv. I may not have to buy a new tv!!

A quick shot of some of the members of the Choral Society of Grace Church in the gym last night, waiting to go on.

Annie Movie Shoot Goes Meta

I passed by a shoot for the movie Annie yesterday (which apparently they are doing again). It was a very big budget shoot, let me tell you. Anyway, I noticed something funny.

Annie Movie Shoot, New York City

They were shooting a scene showing paparazzi surrounding a car with Annie inside and …

Holiday Cleaning is Done

Holiday cleaning was relatively easy this year. The complete apartment repainting I did in the spring caused such a thorough cleaning it’s mostly lasted to this day.

Bleeck: What is this? Is it edible?

Bleeck: I kid. Everything is edible.

Holiday cheer by my desk. I only put up the absolute minimum of decorations this year. Perhaps I should put up little more though. Maybe a wreath.
