Holiday Windows 2019

I can’t believe how uninspired the holiday windows were this year. What happened? There are not only fewer stores left, the ones that remain seem to have lost the spirit. I found my favorite window when I got home, on the way to picking up groceries. I may try to go out again, to take more pictures but just in my neighborhood.

The first is Bergdorf’s on 5th Avenue, and the second is … I don’t know! I’ll have to go back and look. I think it was this place, Adelaide, an art deco furniture store.

Caroling With My Choir

Last night I caroled with my choir, the Choral Society of Grace Church. It was raining/snowing and I didn’t want to pull out my phone, so here is a video of us from 2013. It made me feel great, as per usual. I wrote a whole book about this, but singing has to be one of the cheapest, easiest ways to feel good. I didn’t think anyone would stop in listen because of the cold and rain, but they did. They all had their cameras out, I wish I could see what we looked like this year.

I Missed the Santas

I hoped to catch more Santas on my way home from work yesterday, but I only saw a few and I was so slow getting my phone out I only caught this very blurred shot. I need to go back to wearing my camera around my neck everywhere I go. Yesterday was SantaCon, which most people have a problem with, and it can get gross, but I still love to see Santas all over the place as long as they aren’t throwing up and behaving badly.

Here’s a post from 2009, when I had more time to take pictures.

Choir Performance

The day after the final choir performance is always a little sad. It’s over! The photograph below is of people lining up outside Grace Church in order to get decent seats. The one further down is of me and friends backstage, waiting to go on. Except not backstage so much as downstairs in the gym. I look at this shot and I can hear my mother saying, “Sit up straight!”
