The Best Thing About My Census Job

Teresa. Hands down. And I’m pretty sure my fellow Census workers would agree. Almost every day she brings in something fabulous that she baked. This is the strawberry cake she brought in yesterday. You can’t tell but it was fantastically tall. And it was the first strawberry cake I’ve ever had that actually tasted like real strawberries!! (Because of the piles and piles of strawberries she put in, Teresa told me).

But this cake isn’t the half of it. I wish I had a better memory (I’m old, I have a good excuse) but she is very creative, and fun, and the sheer variety of treats that she’s brought in is not to be believed. Thank you Teresa. I mean seriously, THANK YOU TERESA.

Hello Weekend!

And another horrible heat wave. Did I mention I’m not good in the heat? God, I hate it. I prefer beaches at night and in the winter. I also have to do a laundry tonight. Timing-wise tonight is the only time that’s going to work for me in the next few days.

I took this picture of a building at the corner where 7th Avenue, Greenwich and 11th meet. A horrible corner, by the way, crossing the street-wise. I took it because I don’t think I ever quite looked up at the brick building and noticed its Flatiron building-like shape.

Ohmygod!!!

There are hundreds of them!! The Old Spice guy been answering people’s questions on the internet and every one of them has been genuinely funny so far. This is fucking brilliant.

Trust me. Try one and this one and see if you can stop watching.

He Thinks He’s a Flamingo

I was all, ‘Oh my god, that pigeon has one leg!’ But a minute later his other leg came down. But only for a few seconds. Do they all do this and I just never noticed?

I swear he was hanging out like this for a half an hour, on one leg.

He was a plump little guy too. Wait a minute! He does this to play on people’s sympathies and gets more food. Right??

It’s a well known pigeon scam and I’m the last to know.

We’re Supposed to be the Good Guys

I can’t take the ugliness surrounding the proposed Cordoba House, aka the Ground Zero Mosque, which is neither a mosque NOR at ground zero. It’s a community center which is going to include a prayer space and the suggested site is Park Place which is not ground zero.

America was founded on religious freedom. What better response could there be to the attacks than religious tolerance? To show the world that we know the difference between terrorists and people of good faith?
