Finney Update

He’s doing really well. The hair on his belly is growing in much faster than Buddy’s did, which I guess is not surprising given that Buddy has cancer and is on chemotherapy. All the inflammation in his urinary tract is down except for the one spot where the thing was removed, and that’s to be expected. That area is going to take longer to heal. Last, I started him on glucosamine and fish oil for the arthritis on 7/20 and I can’t wait for a month to go by to see how he’s doing.

So Finney! How are you doing? Mavis wants to know. (He’s giving me his pathetic look here.)

“I smell like fish. How do you think I’m doing?” (He really does.)

And here he’s giving me his “I’m fine, why? Do you have food that needs to be consumed?” look.

Writing Break

I’m here because I’m tired and I’m afraid. I had what I thought was a great idea for the last third of this chapter, and I still think it’s a good idea, but now I’m doubting my ability to pull it off. It could be this beautiful, lyrical thing, or it could be stupid, sentimental and weird.

I want to go to the movies.

Anyway, I took this picture on the way to the subway. Or, I was following balloon man, hoping he’d lose a few balloons in my direction.

How close can I get?

So here is how far I was from the Brooklyn Bridge. I was wondering if my camera could zoom in on the people on the bridge. Results below.

Not bad for a point and shoot. I mean, I was really really far away.

Anyway, the AC is on, I’m heading to the couch. Two days off ahead!! Monday nights are the happiest nights these days.

I’ve got a ton of work to do, but tonight it’s the couch and The Bachelorette. It’s the Men Tell All episode which is always the best one.

Oh, before I forget, please vote for my band here. It’s in Portuguese, but I’m sure you can figure out what to do anyway. I just checked. We’re making a miserable showing! Poor us. We’re listed under Ivo Araujo and Manhattan Samba.

Thank you!

Cats vs Dogs

I watched the end of a show last night, I don’t even know what it was, but they were holding a contest between cats and dogs. In one round they compared the cost of having a dog vs a cat. Dogs cost a billion times more. It was insane, and really scared me off getting a dog. THEN, they left a cat alone in a room and compared it to leaving a dog alone. The dog destroyed the room, totally destroyed it, it was actually hysterical, but I will stick with cats. Siamese cats to be precise. I’ve always wanted to try them and they’re THIN. I will be able to carry them up and down the five flights more easily.

This is Delmonicos (it looks very European, this corner). I’ve always wanted to eat here. Not for the food, but the history. It’s been around since, well, I’m not sure. A long time. 1837. (I just checked. I love the internet.)

Too Hot, As Per Usual

Lisa posted a link to Old Spice at the Library in the comments section — thank you, Lisa! It’s a cute take off on the Old Spice commercials.

I tried to take a picture which shows the true distance between me and the Empire State Building. It’s a little over 20 blocks uptown.
