Linda in the Red Dress

Here’s the photograph I mentioned below in my June 17th post. I made it in the late 70’s and unfortunately it’s been damaged. Also, it’s too big for my scanner, so this is not the entire picture. But this is Linda in the red dress I talked about. (If you scroll down to June 17th I give a little bit of the back story.)

It’s Always Something

Finney has had this problem for years, he scoots along the floor (ew, I know, but it doesn’t do what you think it does). I regularly have his you-know-what glands expressed, but it never helps. I recently read that it could be allergies to food with grains. The problem is I give him food which helps with his tendency for FUS.

So I researched grain-free foods which are low on the things that cause FUS and changed his food. The scooting stopped! But his FUS is back this morning and I’m waiting for the vet to open and poor Finney is in the box every couple of minutes. He’s getting a little out so he’s not completely blocked so I’m not taking him to the hospital but still. He’s very uncomfortable obviously. I feel terrible. Ugh.

Anyway. I was walking behind these cool looking twins yesterday for a couple of blocks.

He’s looking at me, right??

I took this picture because I liked the ivy-covered wall, but then when I uploaded it I noticed the pigeon. Watching me.

Which reminds me–I regularly rescue spiders from my bathtub even though they terrify me and I sometimes scream while doing it because I’m afraid that the spider will crawl off the paper I’ve used to rescue it and onto me before I’ve had a chance to put them in the hall. But I fantasize that the spiders of the world know that I am a spider-rescuer and they have all agreed to leave me alone and will not do things like crawl on me.

Back to Work

I had two days off (three actually, I called in sick on Monday) and I feel like I got a decent amount of work done. Still, not enough. But I figured out the structure for the next chapter and that is big. For me, anyway. Now that I know what I’m going to say it’s fun to figure out how. Figuring out outline: not fun. Filling in the blanks: fun.

I saw this dress hanging outside a building yesterday. A college roommate of mine when I was at the Museum School had a dress very much like this. She did a painting of it, I believe, but she also put the actual dress up on the wall as decoration. It was an usual thing to do at the time and I loved how it looked up there. I also took a picture of her in it which made me very happy because it came out okay and I was used to thinking of myself as not being good at portraits. I should dig it out. Her name was Linda Dennis.

Anyway, I saw this and I thought, Linda Dennis would do this. She would display a dress on a fire escape like this.

So You Think You Can Dance

Here is how I feel about the new format of So You Think You Can Dance. Although I love seeing the all stars again, I really do, I actually find their presence confusing and distracting. I watch them but I can’t help feeling I should be focusing on the people who are actually competing. It’s hard to explain. I can’t just relax and enjoy the dance.

I also can’t immediately tell who is who and I waste time trying to pick out the contestant from the all star, once again preventing me from just relaxing and enjoying the dance. It’s weird, but there it is. It’s a psychological thing.

I’ll see how it works tonight when there’s one all star and one contestant dancing at a time. Maybe it will work better. But from last week, I LOVED Pasha dancing with the two girls, and Travis’s routine.

And here is one of my most lovable fur blobs. You can still see where his fur was shaved off on his belly, even though it’s been months and it’s mostly grown back.
