Perception

catalano
The grandson of one of the scientists I wrote about in Unbelievable has written a book called Perception! It is available here or here. From the description:

“Hugh Lambert is a man of many problems: problems with professors, problems with his punk rock housemates and, most of all, problems with women. A parapsychology student in the Reagan era, Hugh has no job prospects and only one friend—Abby Stoltz, a profane and ever-indignant artist. But then, late one night, Hugh accepts a Tarot reading from a beautiful stranger, and everything begins to change.”

I love the title and the cover!!

More Statues

I was walking back home and I couldn’t resist taking more pictures of the statues from Event Horizon. There are tons! Where have I been?? Here is one on the Flat Iron building.

And there are two in this shot. Can you spot them? Yeah, it’s easy I know. I think these statues are beautiful up there. I don’t think “jumper.” It makes me think of the angels in Wings of Desire.

Ha!

I mean “ew!” I still fully intend to talk about So You Think You Can Dance. But I’m trying to get some work done today.

Mouse!

There’s a new talking cat video from klaatu42, and I wanted to post a link to one of them just in case there was anyone who wasn’t aware of them. Here’s a favorite. But once you see that one, browse his others. There are so many great ones, although I can’t watch the one of the beaver on the highway.

I took this picture of an art installation everyone was talking about a while back. It’s called Event Horizon and it’s by an artist named Antony Gormley. Someone had recently jumped off a building, I think nearby, so people freaked at first. I love it. Apparently there are 31 of them around the Flatiron District. I took this picture from Madison Square Park.

NYC is Awesome

What can I say? It just is. (It doesn’t mean all other cities aren’t awesome, too.) The pictures that I took at the Loser’s Lounge didn’t come out, but my picture of the cop on a horse did. This is on West 4th Street, just before Washington Square Park. I was just thinking, lovely city, fun city (because of things like the Loser’s Lounge).

Oh God, I have to run to work. Argh. So much work to do except I have to go to work. I also seriously need to post about how awesome So You Think You Can Dance is this season, with one caveat.
