I found the ruby slippers!!

The end of the first Oz book always killed me, at least the way I remember it and I may be remembering wrong, it was a long time ago.

But as I remember it, Dorothy is whisked back home but as she’s flying through the air the ruby slippers fall off and are lost in the desert.

Aparently I didn’t understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction when I first heard (read?) this story because I was just beside myself with frustration. The ruby slippers were in the desert somewhere and no one had found them yet?? Why was no one looking??

Well, here they are!

These shoes were just sitting out like this.

Anyway.  So You Think You Can Dance is back!!  I don’t like the idea of having only 10 finalists though.

Hot Weather. Ugh.

Yesterday was a miserable sign of miserable weather to come, I guess. Plus, we were promised a rainstorm which they took back. Well, at least we have today. Maybe it will rain today!

I was working at the Grace Church Archives scanning photographs yesterday. This was from a series of wartime photographs. When I grew up singing around a piano was a regular activity. Every house had a piano. It doesn’t seem to be done anymore. What happened? TV, I guess. Which I love. But I miss all the singing around pianos.

Cat on Me

Can’t post at length, I have a cat on me. Buddy. Who is eating much better, I am ecstatic. Took this on William Street during a lunch break. Look at the jumble of styles!

Back to Work

Buddy ate better this morning, so there’s no reason I shouldn’t hope that he will continue to improve. He didn’t eat a lot, but each time he eats it’s a little more than the last time. It could just be a bad patch that is starting to pass. It was so great to work from home again yesterday, transcribing notes from my reading while Buddy was purring on my lap. I know a lot of people have it a lot harder, so I feel like a whiner, but still. There it is. These are his last days, and I’m away all the time.

Here is another waiting-in-line shot. This is at the enormously popular Shake Shack at Madison Square Park (23rd Street at 5th and Broadway). I’ve never gotten on line there so I can’t comment. And I think people stand in line for their burgers and not shakes.

The yearly Veteran’s Day Parade always kicks off from Madison Square Park. I’ve probably got pictures of that in this blog’s past.

Perhaps I Should Go for a Walk

I am feeling so supremely tense. These roses are just a few blocks away. Surely I would feel better sitting among these flowers (if I can). There’s also some sort of animal adoption event at Washington Square Park. That might be fun. But curling up and reading sounds nice as well.
