I’m So Behind in My TV!

Recorded and still to watch:  The Mentalist, Antiques Roadshow, House, CSI: Miami, True Beauty, two Daily Shows, Fringe and then what’s coming tonight: Lost, Criminal Minds, American Idol and another Daily Show.  How do people with lives manage??

Here’s a picture I took coming back from the dentist (shudder) the other day.  I seem to love getting traffic lights in the shot.  Where was I?  I think I was on Broadway, facing Canal Street.

The Morning After and I’m Even Happier

First, I want to say after that day of bliss I went to choir practice and had a discouraging night. We’re going to do Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, and I didn’t work on it before practice as I usually do, which I don’t think really would have helped much.

This is a very hard piece. VERY hard. And particularly for sopranos. In addition to being a tricky piece, Beethoven keeps us up in the stratosphere through-out. The thing is, usually that’s not a problem. Sopranos love being in the stratosphere. What can I say, it’s where we get to show off! But for some reason being there in this piece hurts. My throat aches and a few times just clenched and gave up.  I don’t know why. Our director seems to be aware of this danger and to his credit is paying particular attention to us, having us sing our part an octave down at times to give us a rest, but I’m clearly doing something wrong, tensing up in some way, but I don’t know how exactly or more importantly, how to stop.

Back to happiness.  Eventually this is going to feel normal and I will stop tearing up or feeling waves of joy, but I am still so elated this guy is our president.  Every move he makes, even if I don’t agree, is thoughtful, smart, and has heart.  His inauguration speech indicated once again he knows what needs to be accomplished. And like many others, I think he can pull it off.  I adore Michelle Obama. Honestly, I think she could have been president too.

But what I wanted to say is, I heard on the news that Obama would work out as usual before starting his day today.  This is why I’m not president.  I will take the slightest excuse to take a day off.  It really doesn’t take much.  In fact, I’m thinking of taking the day off today because I finished an article I’m working on a few minutes ago.  And that is after taking the day off yesterday to fully enjoy the inauguration.

After a day like yesterday, followed by seven hours of ball-attendance I read, so he can only be going on a couple of hours of sleep, he’s going to get up and go to the gym??

Still Live Blogging!

12:13pm.  I loved how Obama started taking the oath before Roberts was finished. He couldn’t wait! Then they both started flubbing their lines!

Listening to his speech. Bring it home Mr. President.

“We will restore science to its rightful place.”  Woo-hoo! (And the arts? Don’t forget us, please.)

That’s Buddy watching with me, by the way.

Ah, I like this part about the choice between our safety and our ideals.  “Our power alone does not protect us.  Nor does it allow us to do as we please.”

12:26pm.  Oh.  Check it out and be ready to tear up for the billionth time.  The new Whitehouse page.

12:28pm.  Haha.  Someone on Facebook posted, Will President Obama end his speech by pointing to Bush and Cheney and say “Now, arrest those two”?

12:29pm.  You know how NPR reporters always talk in NPR voice?  Poets always read poems in the exact same way.  She’s talking in poet voice.

12:40pm.  Sigh.  so, what happens now?    Any other planned events?

12:50pm.  I just learned it was Roberts who flubbed the lines, not Obama, who someone said he looked like he was going to chuckle.  When’s the parade?!

12:57pm.  I want to be President!  I actually quickly thought it through, if I had lived my life differently, and even if I had, I would not have won. I would have lost to Obama, and I would have lost to Bush before that … so, I can live on without regret.

1:04pm.  But maybe Obama will give me a job.

Live Blogging the Inauguration

My president is cool, is a reader and a thinker! Oh happy day!

So, I went to cnn.com for the live stream and it’s hooked up to Facebook and my friend’s status reports are automatically showing up on the right. I’m getting everyone else’s live-comments as a result.  Kinda cool, except the video stream isn’t working for me. It’s so great.  Everyone I know is rejoicing, watching tv about it, twittering about it, FB’ing about it, Echo’ing about it.

Oh!  CNN’s live stream is working for me now!  I’ve got the front of the church now.

Okay, off to see how else I can hook up.  I’ll be back.  My plan is to keep updating this post and not to keep adding posts.

Two and a half more hours!!

9:34am.  Someone on Echo just posted about Michelle’s outfit, but I haven’t seen it yet!  Must find.

9:38am.  Found a blog about Michelle Obama’s outfits, but they don’t have a shot of what she wore to church yet.

10:12am.  I can’t decide who I want to marry more, Barack, Michelle or Joe Biden (sorry Jill, haven’t caught enough to fall in love yet, but I love your resume).

10:20am.  I highly recommend watching the live stream from CNN.com.  The chatter of the people there is hysterical, the people working, I mean, the news people, camera people, etc.

10:38am.  I am loving loving loving all the live Twitters, Facebook status reports, Echo.  I can’t be connected enough!!

11:08am.  Everyone is calling Cheney Mr. Potter now. Hahahahaha.
