by While I was looking for a picture of the Isador Straus summer estate I came across this picture of the Wheelock Mansion on 661 West 158th Street. It’s dated November 10, 1937 and it was taken by Berenice Abbott. That’s Manhattan! It’s like a beautiful, Jean Cocteau-imagined fantasy but it’s (was) real.
Ooooh. Love it in a freakish sort of Munster family way.
