The Best Grilled Cheese Ever??

A place has supposedly opened up near me with an item on the menu that reads “Best Grilled Cheese Ever.” I say supposedly because it’s blocks away from me and I haven’t noticed it, except that’s not unusual. I’m a pretty oblivious person sometimes. It’s called High Street on Hudson. I’m going to walk by soon to make sure it’s there and of course I’m going to order the grilled cheese. Perfect marketing device except that will only work once. But I’m hoping they’re tell the truth!

From the recent Santacon. Santa and his elves need a snack.

Star Wars Fail

I made an attempt to see Star Wars today but the shows I wanted to go to were sold out. I should probably buy the tickets online but I have these coupons I use for going to the movies, a gift from my friend Kevin.

This is not a real bird, this is a Christmas decoration.

Star Wars

I’m thinking I will go next week, in the middle of the afternoon when hopefully everyone in New York City will be at work. Actually, I don’t need an empty theatre. Just a theatre empty of rude people. Mostly, seat kickers. Or the people who knock you on the head with their purses as they go in and out of their seat and then don’t say excuse me. Or the people behind you who grab your chair to help themselves up. Talkers go without saying.

Who are these people who always so tastefully decorate outside their building? Thank you whoever you are. It looks lovely and it’s a pleasure to see.

Old IDs

We were talking about old IDs on Echo and I knew I had saved some of mine. I found this one from Tiffany’s, I believe the year is 1982, and I would have been 26 years old. Note the married name! I would NEVER take the man’s name again and I’m shocked that I did at the time. I instantly regretted it (not because of my ex-husband, a very nice and decent man who I consider a friend to this day).

I think I look so glamorous. It’s the makeup. In those days I bothered to put on makeup.

TiffanysID

This is my NYU id, where I went to graduate school. The year is 1989, my last year and the year I started Echo. I was 33 years old and entering one of the happiest periods of my life.

I think I have a deer in the headlights look in this one. I also had a perm. Does anyone get perms anymore? Because I like how this looks, I’d consider getting one again. Are they still a thing?

Recovering from Echo Crash

Echo crashed yesterday (thank you Jonathan Kay and Alchemy Computer Solutions and Kevin Kroos). I never handled Echo problems very well, and it’s been years since we’ve had a problem like this and I haven’t changed a bit, it turns out.

I was happily researching at the Municipal Archives, and then the New York Public Library and I was blissfully unaware. And then I came home to DISASTER. It’s okay now. I’m trying to recover. Be strong, Stacy. Everything is okay now.

I took this on my way into the Archives yesterday. The Municipal Archives are to the left, and through that archway is One Police Plaza. Such a wonderfully dramatic part of town, I love going there. Law and Order films all over the place here.
