Yesterday I walked downtown along the Hudson River to see Annihilation, which was both good and bad. It was beautiful, and the sound effects were amazing (the best part I thought) but it wasn’t enough for me emotionally. Maybe I should have read the book first?
Walking back I took pictures of seagulls. I don’t trust their innocent “oh we’re just looking out at the water” line-up there.
Sounds like you are on to something – I wanted to see it until I read this review: http://observer.com/2018/02/review-alex-garlands-annihilation-puts-special-effects-over-story/
Love the pictures you took – looks like quite a walk though! I’m so sick of rain here in Texas, but we are in a drought so “its a good thing” ala Martha.
Oh God, that reviewer really hated it! While I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, I was drawn in, and was entertained, but so much was missing. It didn’t really have any kind of true emotional center, and it didn’t engage me intellectually either. I guess it was all visual and sound, and I can’t exaggerate how great and inventive the sound was.
