Bali (left cat): I love you, please love me, but I must bite you.
Bodhi (right cat): Wait, who are you again? Yeah, I’m going to bite you too.
Bali always looks so earnest. We’re friends, right? Bodhi is perpetually surprised. Where am I? What’s going on? I’m going to richochet over here now. Bali is more sedate and cuddly. That said, they’re both completely bite-y. Not in a hostile way, but in a playful way. Still hurts. I don’t know what do do. It’s their favorite thing. Quit biting me bros!
One of our cats was very bite’y as a kitten. We shrieked loudly each time he bit us, because we read that when dogs are very young, they do things harder and harder until they hurt their playmates, and when their playmates squeals, they realize “Oh, that was too hard!”. It really seemed to work for our kitty – he is still bite’y, but he pretty much never bites hard enough to hurt.
Thank you. I’m going to try that. I’m also going to buy stuffed animal to shove at them when they bite me to get them to bite the stuffed animals instead.
