There are a lot of empty storefronts in my neighborhood, because the rents are too high to maintain a sustainable business. I keep hoping for the return of laundromats and delis and diners, but that will probably never happen. Unless a longterm depression hits.
But I loved all the loaves of Wonderbread in the window of this recently closed business.
I saw this exactly building! The wonderbread is still there at least as of June 21, 2018, when I stopped to take a picture of it!
Ha! Yes, and they were still there when I passed by the other day!
Would you mind explaining the significance of the Wonderbread hanging in abandoned store front? I’ve seen a few in my neighborhood and I’m unbelievably curious… nothing on the internet as well..
thank you in advance!!!
I don’t know! We should both make it a quest to find out. What neighborhood are you in, do you mind asking? Because I just remembered that I’ve seen a few more windows with Wonderbread in them and I can’t remember where I saw them.
I believe the Wonder Bread’s hanging are meant to let possible renters of the available space know that there are no rodents in the space, had there been rodents/mice then the bread would have been attacked at some point.
Hi Sandra. That’s interesting. Could the answer be so simple? But why don’t we see that all the time then? There are tons of empty storefront in NYC. Sadly, so many more now because of the pandemic.
