From my walk yesterday. It looks busy in this shot, but it was not. Everything is closed except places that sell food. It looks like I happened to press the shutter just when there was a car and a few people in the shot.

There are beautiful decorations hanging in the center of the photo over the streets. Are those there all the time? Or were those leftover from the New Year celebrations? I’m just wondering. If they’re leftover, that makes this photo doubly eerie–like everyone just ran for shelter in a hurry and took nothing down. I saw photos of China when it was in lockdown, and it was eerie to see stores and other establishments with New Year decorations still up.
I honestly don’t know! All of New York feels eerie to me now, though.
