Karen (not my sister-in-law Karen, but Karen in North Carolina) sent me this great, GREAT picture and said it was okay to post it.  She also explained that my monster robin might be one of “a subspecies of American Robins that come from the Canadian region of Labrador that are larger than normal.”  

Karen does this great blog called Birds and Buckeyes in Greensboro, that is so worth visiting. She also suggested getting a bird feeder for my fire escape, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a while.  I’ve hesitated for a couple of reasons.  One, I wasn’t sure it if might actually be a form of cat torture, and two, I didn’t know which to buy, and three, I heard squirrels and rats end up feeding from them and scaring away the birds.  Now I want to work this out after looking at Karen’s pictures.

This is the kind of picture you get, alas, when I am too lazy to get up.  I’m sitting with my coffee, relaxing, and well, here’s Buddy, also taking it easy.  Hey Bud.

Wasn’t the last Bones a great, great episode??  It just popped into my head.

Unless I misunderstood, I learned in a lecture today that Buddhists say animals don’t have consciousness. Oh well.  So much for that.  Unless I misunderstood, which is so entirely possible. A little bit of googling seems to indicate that I might have.  I hope a Buddhist weighs in.  

In the meantime, I give you this guy.  Please note the endearing tiny leg splayage to body ratio.

It’s the weekend!  Here’s my plan for the day, we’ll see how much I actually do:  Exercise, meditate, go to the Greenmarket, see a movie, go to a lecture at the Rubin Museum.

Can I eat that one? He’s taunting me and should pay, right?
