Thank You, Person of Interest

And my heart breaks yet again, as a beloved tv show says goodbye. I have to say though, that was one of the most emotionally satisfying finales I have ever seen. Incredible work from everyone involved with this show (actors, writers, crew). Thank you so much. I will miss you all terribly. I ask for the millionth time, why must everything come to an end?? If you love something, you’re going to lose it some day. Guaranteed. I think we can all agree that sucks.

Also, as far as I can tell this show has never gotten a lot of critical attention, but it really evolved into an amazing work of art. I was just remembering how much I hated, HATED, the character Root. She started out as a bad guy, and Amy Acker is such a good actress I couldn’t bear watching her. I wanted her character killed off as soon as possible. But they brought her back and she slowly became a good guy, showing how redemption is done. Every character showed this actually, but I had forgotten how much I hated her. Anyway, sigh. Sob.

A pile of sleeping cats on my desk. That’s two heart breaks in my future unless I go first.

Make Music New York, 2016

It was just one of those days and I wasn’t able to go around the city to hear various musicians playing outdoors for free. I also missed the yearly Night at the Museums, a favorite of mine. Both events were on the same day so some museums combined them, a win-win if there ever was one.

I was feeling kinda sorry for myself but I lucked out and caught one group as I was heading home. An all bassoon group playing, fittingly, a Mozart bassoon concerto which I love (and isn’t actually composed for all bassoons, but still). Thank you New York, musicians, and organizers.

Kayaking on the Hudson

You can rent kayaks for free on the Hudson River. It’s a great thing, and I’ve done it. But honestly, I prefer smaller rivers, like the Nissequogue River on Long Island. You feel more like you’re kayaking, I’m not sure why. Maybe because it feels closer to nature.

Olympian Butt

I went out for a walk along the river and totally lucked out when I came up on the 2016 AVP New York City Open. These women are incredible athletes, I really had no idea, I never watch volleyball. Pictured are April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings, who won!

Birthday Flowers

I was feeling bad so I bought roses to cheer myself up (I call them birthday flowers because I’m still calling it my birthday until the 4th of July). I also went swimming, cleaned my house more thoroughly than my usual weekly cleaning, ran errands (so I’d feel productive) went to my monthly mediation meeting, and had extra dessert.

Feeling okay is sometimes a lot of work.
