I Already Miss the Dubois Family

SPOILER ALERT: Last night was the finale for the tv show Medium. I loved the Ghost and Mrs. Muir ending. It’s almost embarrassing how you come to care about tv characters, but I did love the Dubois family and it’s sad that I’ll never see another minute of them again. The show almost got too scary for me at times, but all the family scenes were just so real and endearing. Goodbye and thanks for a great show.

Anthony Hopkins’ face looming above … Park Avenue, I think it was. Imagine if this were your face. This was HUGE (I was very far away).

That does it!

This week, I’m not even looking east, the direction of my dentist’s office. Yesterday was supposed to be the day I’d take it easy, my reward for enduring all the dental nightmares. And what happens? I had to go back to the dentist and endure more nightmares. Shudder.

So I’m heading to the dreaded dentist office and police lights start flashing and sirens go off … from within a taxi! They’re going undercover in taxis now! I didn’t notice it at the time, but it looks like this cop is covering his face like I’m the paparazzi, which I guess I kinda was.

I knew it! Evil!

Have you all read about this CDC study? They’re trying to kill us. No more kisses for you, little guy. And get off that couch! Who am I kidding, I’m a goner. No way I’m going to stop curling up with them and kissing the top of their heads. But definitely no more open-sore-licking. (Ew. My cats never do that.)

American Idol – Eh

Sorry. I miss Simon. Not mean Simon, but direct Simon, and honest Simon. And Simon with a bit of life to him. It feels so bland and limp without him. The others just don’t have his presence. And I feel mean saying this because he seems like such a decent guy, but grandfatherly-looking Steven Tyler flirting with teenagers, and the repetitive scream/singing, which he does very well, all has to stop.

There used to be a building on this corner, where that crane is now. Even though I’ve probably passed it by thousands of times over 30 years, I don’t remember what was there. What can I say? I pass by thousands and thousands of buildings.

I’m going to Boston!

Not sure when, but I’m going to be doing some work at the Houghton Library at Harvard. I can’t wait. I love Boston. And although I lived in Cambridge and worked at Harvard, I’m not sure I’ve ever been in their libraries. How can that be? Which libraries did I use?

In any case, this trip will involve so many of my favorite things: researching, libraries, Boston, Cambridge, nostalgia, seeing friends and maybe relatives. Maybe even a blizzard if I go soon!

The weather was miserable here yesterday. I got completely soaked during my miserable walk to my miserable day of dentistry that in the end, didn’t turn out to be so bad. It was so not-bad I walked back home smiling.
