“Oh for the love of God,” he’s thinking. “More shots?? I’m resting, woman! Don’t you remember I went to the vet this morning? It was horrible. Let me recover.”

“Yes. I jumped up here. It wasn’t that big a deal really. I don’t see why you felt the need to record the event.”

ChemoCat!!! Who was pronounced magnificent, sturdy and a whole new cat?? That’s right, the amazing, fantastic Buddalicious. I got a bit of an action shot just now. We’re waiting for the blood work, but the vet agreed he looks great.

I’m nervous of course. But a very nice guy named Harry Kaplan who saw me on a panel at the New York Public Library recommended me for a reading at Sunday’s at Sunny’s. Thank you, Harry!! Sunny’s is a great old bar on the Red Hook, Brooklyn waterfront.

The guy who runs the series, Gabriel Cohen, has sent very encouraging email, so I’ll be practicing over the next two days.

I’m going to be reading with Ted Conover and Ken Wishnia. Red Hook is a great place to explore, Sunny’s is a great back-in-time bar, so if you think you might like to go, here are directions:

Sunny’s is at 253 Conover Street (between Beard & Reed Streets).

There’s the IKEA water taxi that’s free from Pier 11, and it leaves every 20 minutes. If you promise to shop at IKEA I think it’s okay to take it. Pier 11 is at the corner of South Street & Wall Street. To get to Pier 11 take either the 2,3,4 or 5 train to Wall Street and then walk east. Seriously, if you’re going to go out there you should go to IKEA. I plan to pick up some bowels I saw there last time.

Or, you can take the B61 toward Red Hook from Atlantic Ave. & Court St. (or from the A train midtrain exit at Jay Street Borough Hall). Get off near the end of the line at Van Brunt & Beard streets., walk 1 block right and 1/2 block left.

Or take the B77 bus down 9th Street from Park Slope (or from the Smith and 9th Street F train stop–exit at the rear of the train and come down the stairs to street level and the corner bus stop.) Take the bus in the direction of Van Brunt Street and Red Hook.

This should be very interesting. A completely different place, with a much more diverse crowd. Oh and crowds. Most of the places I’ve been have been relatively quiet. I’m bringing my camera, of course!

Here is the before picture of the Grace Church magnolia tree that didn’t come out well. I’ll get a better shot next week, when it will be in full bloom.

I took a picture of the huge magnolia tree in front of Grace Church, but it didn’t come out well. Maybe I’ll put it up later anyway. It’s just about to bloom and I wanted to do a before/after.

I am feeling so seriously stressed out right this moment. I’m like: okay I have to practice for my reading on Sunday, get to the bank, buy kitty litter, oh yeah and FOOD, and get Buddy to the vet and do Echo work, and Census work and choir rehearsals, and how do people manage with all the stuff we have to do in order to live, with all the errand running and cooking and cleaning, and UGH. And somehow in all that I must fit TV. Bones and Fringe return tonight!!

I could meditate. But who has time?? Seriously, I should meditate. Always helps.

Oh yeah, I also want to post about the pope. But later.
