Gene was right. The first board I put up kept bowing further and further inward. I found another piece of wood to use. (Look at all these birds, will you??)

Your friend should still be able to cut notches in either end to keep it from slipping off. But that 2×4 will definitely hold up those piggy pigeons and their lunch a lot better than the plywood 🙂
I hope it can’t slip off easily because I don’t know when my friend is going to get to making the notches.
