What We’re Up To

I’ve been researching health insurance options. I don’t want to think anymore. Actually, I’ve probably been over-thinking this. I’m perfectly healthy, so for now I need to be concerned about accidents and hospital stays and as far as I can tell, for the plans I am considering they are all roughly the same.

Bottom line, I am about to save a TON of money. A TON. Thank you, Obamacare.

  1. I’m really glad your health care costs are going down!
Unfortunately for us, we actually need to use our health care, and our costs have more than tripled from what we were paying last year, and, to top it off, our coverage isn’t as good.

  2. That’s terrible! But how on earth can they have tripled?? What plan did you go with? I know it’s different from state to state but how can it be that different?

There has to be an explanation.

  3. I’m very pleased with my insurance, even though I live in Alabama where only ONE insurance company is our choice. Well, I wouldn’t call it “choice,” but nevertheless, they can’t deny due to pre-existing conditions. I’m 62, and it is expensive — $550 a month with only 100 dollar deductible — but I’ve already used it several times, and truly glad to have it. I do get a subsidy, but not nearly the amount I’m paying for a premium. And I do credit “Obamacare” for this.

I’m just hoping to make till I get medicare, but even that still costs a monthly premium and usually a supplemental private ins. I hope one day we’ll have a public option…sigh.

  4. I just posted about this again, and included a link about how the options vary from state to state. The thing is, the states that have less or not good options have them because the state is making sure they do. This is not the fault of Obamacare, but the state.
