I actually took this shot a couple of weeks ago, as an early sign of spring, which is now here except it’s freezing in NYC at the moment. I can’t get up and close the window though, because I have a sleeping cat on me.
I took this in Gramercy Park, which I love, and get to pass by every time I go to the dentist. A good part of a bad thing. I would love to see inside these two buildings. I’m too chicken to ask for a peek though. When did I become this chicken??
I found the building on Google street view, Googled the street address (the number is on the doormat) and found out that Jimmy Fallon lives in this building and has apparently bought up 5 apartments there. Uh, I guess he makes more $$ than I do…
Ha. Yeah, lots of famous people live in those two buildings. They are so beautiful and if you can afford it, who can resist? But FIVE?? I love Jimmy Fallon though.
If you like Fallon, I hope you have seen the cute movie “Fever Pitch”.
As for asking to see a building, you’re a little bit famous yourself. Do any of your books have a photo of you on the cover? You could stroll over there with a copy under one arm and say you would like to view the inside for a book you are working on. None of that is false, as you are probably working on any number of book ideas in your head at any given time, and you could write a story where one of the characters lived there. Or something.
Speaking of ‘Imperfect Harmony’, I notice that you write how you are not a believer and yet you are moved by the religious music. That is normal, of course, and applies to me also. I have spent many years, off and on, looking into religions, mostly as a cultural artifact. I have often said that if I were to join one religion (which I won’t because there is the whole god thing) it would have to be Judaism. Then, just yesterday I listened to this lovely interview with Rabbi Sacks and it confirmed what I’ve been thinking about Judaism. I would never have the nerve to do what you described! It’s a great idea though.
