It’s Been One of Those Days!

I haven’t been able to get near this blog! I had to update my Unbelievable blog, which I ignored while I was sick. I had to do this and I had to do that, and I was unable to get here to do what I love to do best, gab about nothing much at all.

But apparently I always have time to take pictures of Finney in the sunlight. (The title of my future hit song.)

Look out Ralph Lauren!

They’re setting up downstairs for whatever Fox thing they’re going to shoot. If I’m up for it I’ll head down later. I’m mostly on the mend and today was the first day I’ve had a real appetite, and for foods I normally like. I can’t believe how long this is taking. I think of myself as being in the “healthy as a horse” category.

Check out this mass of vines trying to devour the Ralph Lauren store!

I don’t mean to pressure you 2010, but …

In a lot of ways 2009 really sucked (except I did have a new book come out, and while sales could have been better, every chance I get up at bat is a good thing). I don’t want to list all the ways 2009 sucked. I prefer to chalk it up to, ‘bad years, they happen,’ and move on.

Here is Finney on top of the tv in the sunlight. Whenever he sits in the sun I sing to him, “Finney in the sunlight, do-tah-do-tah-do. Finney in the sunlight, I’m so in love with you!”

Hell, I should be happy that someone hasn’t committed me by now. (More below …)

I went through my journal where among other things, I write about what made me happy that day. Here are some of the entries that stood out for me for whatever reason.

1/12: Confronted the thing that has scared me more than anything in the world and felt relief, victory walk.

1/20: Obama’s inauguration.

3/13: Book event went well, lots of people showed, an orange at the end of the night from Ruby.

3/20: Fabulous dinner at the Washington Duke (Sally Rhine Feather treated us).

5/29: Coming up with litterbox fix.

6/23: Looks like I might be okay (breast cancer scare).

7/4: Perfect weather for working at my desk, just enough money in the bank, party pictures.

7/14: Hair (the play), singing on stage, going with friends.

8/20: Went to DC for radio interview, quick nice visit with Art, clean house when I got back, pizza.

10/21: Got an offer for rights from Japan for Unbelievable.

10/24: New purse from Sharleen.

10/25: The event with the Aykrods went well, dinner afterwards.

10/31: Rain abandon (it rained on us at the Halloween parade), showering afterwards and feeling dry, Halloween movies.

11/17: Harmony (I got demoted to Soprano 2, but actually loved it).

Now get to work 2010!! I’m counting on you.

Better but Still Sick

fox
Still recovering from whatever I had, and now I’m not sleeping and going crazy from tinnitus. Plus, this sign was slapped up in front of my building.

Is it promo for good Fox (Bones) or bad Fox (Fox Political Propaganda, I mean News, you know fuck it, it’s not really news and I refuse to call it that, the nicest way to refer to it would be Fox Political Opinion and Republican Promotional Show).

The not sleeping thing is putting me over the edge. I’m not going to make a friends party today and I’m trying to think of how I can spend the day without feeling miserable. I’m behind in a lot of work and I think it would make me feel better to get something done, then get some welsh rarebit to go from Tea & Sympathy and watch the movies I’ve downloaded.

Oh!! Speaking of Bones, my favorite show, I screamed one night because the character “Bones” spoke a line from my book The Restless Sleep. I’m pretty sure one of the writers had to have read my book, or maybe I cut and paste that section on my blog? I think I did, actually. Anyway, I wrote a section about cadaver dogs, and I wrote this line:

“In one cold case investigation a cadaver dog found a body that was wrapped in plastic and buried under concrete four years earlier.”

So in one episode Seeley is doubtful that a cadaver dog named Tutti will be able to find a body that’s somewhere under the floor. Bones says he can and:

“Once I saw Tutti find a dead body wrapped in plastic, under concrete, four years later.”

They had to have gotten that from me! The case I was writing about was on obscure case from Queens in the 80’s. (Or was it the early 90’s?)  It was not big news. Sadly, Queens cases rarely are unless mobsters are involved and this was not a mob case. Although who knows where they heard about it and anyway I’m not complaining, I was proud!

Live From My Roof

I know dreams are boring, but I just have to post about this terrible dream I had the other night. I’ll be brief!

There was this massive fire downtown. A few of the tallest buildings were completely consumed and started to topple. Suddenly the fire spread and enveloped all the buildings downtown and they started falling. Then the fire wooshed up all the avenues, shooting out into all the sidestreets and like that, New York was on fire. I stood looking out my window knowing there was no escape. The streets below me were full of fire. I could run to the roof and buy myself a few more minutes, but what would be the point of that? We were all going to die and it was happening so fast no one was going to be able to save us.

I don’t know what could cause something like what I saw, if anything.

There’s more, like the guilt I felt for momentarily thinking of leaving my cats and seeing if I could make it to the river. I want to post this dream just in case, God forbid, it came true. I want to make sure I get credit for foreseeing it.

What a wet blanket I am! Well, here’s a winter wonderland.
