It’s Weird about Veterans Day


I can remember a couple of years, after 9/11, when the City made a bigger deal about Veteran’s Day, otherwise it’s usually the saddest, most ignored holiday of the year. Is holiday the right word?  It can’t be.

I was just looking at the website for the New York City Vietnam Memorial, a very well designed memorial in my opinion.  You can click on the different sections online.  Here, just look at one.

My feelings about war are complex, but could probably be summed up with: I wish when armies were deployed they were sent to places like Darfur, and not Iraq.
