The Universe Hates Me (As Per Usual)

It’s just been one disappointment after another this week.  I won’t be sorry to see the end of this week, boy.  Good riddance.  You hate me?  Well week, I gotta tell you, the feeling is mutual.

I did have a nice breakfast though with some of my detective friends (followed by MORE disappointment).  I took this picture in Queens somewhere.  I never know where I am when I’m in Queens. Long Island City, maybe?  But what are these things?  Seriously. What is inside of them? They’re lovely!  Such beautiful structures in the midst of the industrial park of despair that was this area. Someone designed them. Good job, someone.

  1. Those objects appear to be part of a sewage treatment plant. Perhaps they are digesters, which transform the sludge and liberate methane gas. I suspect the domes trap the methane, which ends up getting burned off.
Perhaps a look at the NYC DEP website can confirm …

  2. You saved the day! That’s it!! Thank you!!! How did you know that before even confirming it??

  3. I’m not sure…but I did get to walk through the Newtown Creek treament plant a while back. Vagely recall that our guide pointed out the function of the objects that you recorded. The plant REALLY looks cool at night !!!

These days, NYC tends to pay attention to the esthetics as well as the function of these types of facilities.

    Just a font of useless knowledge-aren’t I 🙂
