Book Event for Reading for my Life

On Monday, March 19th, at 7:30 p.m., Viking is hosting an event to celebrate the launch of the late John Leonard’s book, Reading for my Life. Sue Leonard will be there to talk about John’s life and work with Gloria Steinem, Victor Navasky and Colum McCann.

Where: Barnes & Noble space on E. 86th  and Lexington.

You can read a review of the book here.

I took this the other night on the roof. I went up there hoping to see some special effects from the recent sun storm. I’ve never seen the aurora borealis and I heard that we might see it in our skies. It was pretty anyway.

  1. I would imagine that NYC has too much light “pollution” to see the Northern Lights properly. It was cloudy that night here in Ottawa and it was also said that the full moon that night (if it had been clear, I guess) would have made seeing them pretty much impossible.
The last time I saw the Northern Lights in Ottawa was one summer night about 15 years ago. I hope that wasn’t the final time…!

  2. I grew up in northern Manitoba and the northern lights were a routine part of winter nights. Of course, I didn’t realize or appreciate how special it was then. My mum still lives there but I have not been back in the winter for years and years.

  3. I’d love to seem them once. They’re still saying there’s a possibility over the next year, or was it next year? I forget now, but there’s going to be more sun activity that might result and in the Northern Light being viewable. And all communications being knocked out.
