My New Favorite Song: We Believe in Happy Endings

I couldn’t sleep the other night and on the tv was an episode of American Masters about Garrison Keillor. Early on Robin and Linda Williams sing We Believe in Happy Endings. 2 in the morning and I leapt up and starting googling. UNHAPPILY, I discovered I couldn’t buy a recording of them singing this song.

The best I could do was bookmark a Prairie Home Companion show from 2007, which begins with them singing this song, and then playing it over and over. I’m playing it right now.

Put this on an album Robin and Linda Williams. I’m begging you.

  1. lol. I couldn’t sleep last night and saw same masterpiece. Loved song and have been searching ever since myself till daylight. It is wonderful and so are they.

  2. I too was very sad that they have not recorded this wonderful song. I wrote to them by email and they pointed out that Emmylou Harris has recorded it. However, as I told them, that version doesn’t have the same joy and conviction as I hear when Robin and Linda sing it. Still keeping fingers crossed they record it.

  3. Thank you for letting me know about the Emmylou Harris version, but I agree with you completely, as beautifully as EmmyLou sings it, it does not have their, and I would use the same words you did, joy and conviction.
