Will the workmen show?

The workmen are supposed to return today to paint. Will they show? If they do, I hope they don’t scream when they see me. I’m pretty horrifying looking. And, if they show, I am hoping against hope that they can finish this room in a day. It’s rather large, but it’s still only one room.

In the meantime, here are some nicer faces to look at. Oh god, I can’t wait until I can smile again freely for pictures.

We’re Resting

One of us is has a mouth full of stitches, is swollen and Frankenstein-like and therefore afraid to look in a mirror. Two of us are riding on the other’s must-rest-all-day coattails and demanding their share of soft food treats. But the surgery went well. I’ve gotten two different time-frames for when I can start work on the bridge though. I must be done by the end of June!

Sometimes the Universe Delivers

The bedroom and bathroom are painted! I worked for hours cleaning up after them, so the rooms are not put back together, but at least everything is moved back and I can lay on the couch in stress and clutter-free misery after my surgery which is taking place in two hours. So, uh, yay!

I went with the Golden Honey color for the living room, but I told them to go ahead and paint the bedroom with whatever color they had, which was of course some shade of white. I did however ask them to use the trim I chose, which I thought was a darker green but it turned out to be the exact same shade I had before! Even though I was also buying different brand of paint. How did that happen? I guess I’m really drawn to that color.

You can see the water damage in the floor by the radiator (caused by a radiator water leak). I’ve partially covered it with a cat basket, but it’s not quite doing the job. It bugs me how awful it looks. I can’t afford to re-sand the floors, so I don’t know what to do. A bigger rug, I guess.

The Great Stacy and Her Apartment Makeover Update

They said it would take three days. It’s been five. AND they’ve been working on one room only (the bedroom) AND actual painting hasn’t even begun. Ah well. I’m hoping against hope that they finish the bedroom and the bathroom today. Hell, I did the bathroom in a day myself in 2008, although at the time I called painting it myself “The Baddest Bad Idea I’ve Ever Had.” The room is so small and the ceiling so high that maneuvering and reaching everywhere was exhausting.

I’m having my final oral surgery tomorrow. If those two rooms were done I could put my apartment back to normal for a day and recuperate in relative comfort. I’m dreading this surgery. I’ve just got nothing left, pain-tolerance and brave-front wise. Sigh. Once more into the breach.

Easter Parade New York City 2013 vs 2012

I was just browsing Gothamist and the photographs they have there of this years Easter Parade down 5th Avenue when I spotted a couple of familiar faces. First, this guy and his dogs. I was sure I took his picture last year and sure enough …

Easter Parade, New York City, 2013

I did! I’m so glad his dogs are still with us. Notice how all three of them got nice new hats.

Then there was this couple. I was sure I had taken their picture last year too …

Easter Parade, New York City, 2013

And once again, I had! Still looking fabulous, you two. Both of the pictures from this year were taken by Tod Seelie, and I have to concede, his pictures are better than mine. I love how his photographs look up the street and take in Fifth Avenue. It gives them life, and drama, and majesty. Mine definitely look ordinary in comparison. (Must try harder.) (Actually, you’ll probably see me copying the looking-up-the-street thing. The Humans of New York guy prefers that angle as well.)

Oh God, I just visited Seelie’s blog and his photographs are freaking mind-blowingingly amazing. He is so talented. They are breathtaking, Seriously. You to look. Here is the link again.
