Filming on the Sex and the City Block

Could it be??

set11

They’re set up in front of the right apartment! And a group of people stood by waiting to see spot one of the girls.  But there wasn’t a lot of activity and trailers that normally accompany a Sex and the City shoot.

UPDATE: I went back for a closer look and they’re actually a couple of doors down from the SATC apartment.  I asked and was told this was for a Jennifer Aniston movie called The Bounty. I stayed for a minute to see if we’d get a peak at any of the stars but no go and I didn’t feel like hanging out.  Although it’s lovely out.  Why not?

Manhattan Valley Ramblers – Bill Christophersen and John Saroyan

I went to a house concert last night and heard these guys. Aren’t they great? They are John (left) and Bill (right), aka the Manhattan Valley Ramblers. Bill told this charming story about applying for a job at Forbes, and apparently Malcolm Forbes was quite the toy collector. As he waited for his interview Bill listened to a waltz playing that was part of what I think he described as a carousel-type toy, and he memorized the song and worked it out on his fiddle when he got back home. Now I want to go over to the Forbes building and see if that toy is still there.

Hip Hop and Banjo

I’m taking an “Absolute Beginner Hip Hop” class today. I’m looking for alternative ways to exercise and I thought this would be fun. I could dance around my house and feel better about it if I know some fun movements, and at the next wedding I’m invited to I will look less like a spazz.

I plan to bring my camera, but who knows if I will take pictures. I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. I’ll see. It’s a “semi-private” class, which means I won’t be the only student. I’ll bet I’m the only one there in their fifties. Ha. Maybe not!

And the other day I saw this guy playing banjo at the Greenmarket. I’ve been reading all these books and articles about the brain and music, which make me feel good because all the music I learn every year is good for my brain. And I thought I should go back to learning to play the banjo. I still have the banjo I bought, what the hell. Brain exercise.

Exercise all over the place!

Don’t forget, try the new show: Warehouse 13.

Watch Warehouse 13

Hi. I am right this second sitting on the couch, with my laptop, and Night at the Museum is on in the background. I just finished exercising so I’m allowed. I made the title of this post “Watch Warehouse 13” just in case I forget to mention it.

It’s a new show that I don’t just like, I LOVE. I mean I really loved the premiere. Loved all the main characters, loved the premises, the first “case,” the humor, the possibilities. I’m happy.

I took this picture … Thursday? This the park behind the 42nd Street library and it’s not usually this packed in the middle of the afternoon. The stage and screen was set up for the summer movies (they show movies there at night once a week during the summer, it’s a lot of fun) and it looked like the cast from STOMP was up there doing their thing. You can’t see it, the stage is to the right of what I am showing in this photograph.

Update: Added a picture with the stage below this one. Not that it’s so fascinating.
