I’m so blue it feels like Sunday

Sundays are usually the most depressing day of the week, but for some unknown reason I feel depressed today, on a Saturday, and that’s after seeing Cabin in the Woods! It makes no sense. (Cabin in the Woods: Not great, but funny, entertaining, a fine movie for a Saturday afternoon.)

What will cheer me up? Lots of cheese? Because I have some. What do you do when you’re having one of those days, when you’re feeling lousy for no good reason, but nonetheless, there you are?

I passed by this photo shoot on my way to the movies. The girl on the left in the yellow heels is the subject.

  1. I don’t always take my own advice but when I’m feeling down, i try to get out of the house. It doesn’t always make me feel better but it rarely makes me feel worse.
But it sounds like you’ve already been out! Oh well. The cheese will probably help.

  2. I usually take my two dogs on a long neighborhood walks, which sometimes results in talking with neighbors outside doing yard work.

If I have a “bad night”…and I’ve had a lot since late husband died…I let the dogs sleep in my bed. They usually sleep in crates, but if I’m sniffling/crying, they will get on either side of me, put their heads on my shoulders. I can feel their comfort!

Cheese helps, especially if I can have a little wine with it.

  3. Aw, Cara, the dog/comfort image is so sweet.

But yeah, getting out of the house, reading, both work. I felt a lot better yesterday after swimming, then brunch at a friend’s house.
