A blog about New York City, my books, and my cats. Mostly.
I've written six non-fiction books, the most recent is Damnation Island: Poor, Sick, Mad, and Criminal in 19th-Century New York.
Well, the advantage of owning your own home, like I do, *you* get to play with the heating/cooling to your heart’s content. The disadvantage that replacing that heating/cooling, like I did in 2004 when the system died of old age (although I think your boiler is older) is that I got to pay the HVAC guys $7000.
And you do what now for heat? Open oven door? Space heaters? Suck it up? It’s extremely chilly here in NC – 27 this morning. I can’t imagine it is warmer up there in NYC.
It’s a lot warmer! It’s in the 50’s during the day, so probably in the 40’s at night. Wow, what a difference, and that it’s so much colder in NC.
I use a space heater. The lack of hot water is always the worst part. But the heat is back now!
