I Think I Might be as Strong as a Superhero

I just wrapped up our old web server and lugged it on foot I don’t know how many blocks, in a snowstorm, and up five flights. I was so sure the thing weighed as much as I do, but apparently it weighs 47 pounds according to my scale. My scale could be messing with me.

I’m going to have some hot chocolate now.

  1. Jesus. I’ve had to carry 40-pound bags of cat litter from the store to my car (maybe 1/8 of a block, total), and that was FAR ENOUGH. Color me impressed. But why did you have to lug it home?
Hope you enjoyed your cocoa. You earned it!

  2. Well, I did have the cart to help me, but it was still a lot of work pulling that cart through the snow. And then climbing all those flights!!

But I felt like I got a great work out.

  3. I once carried over 50 pounds in a duffle bag, on my back, for about 30 minutes. I suffered spasms in my trapezoid for weeks after – some of the worst pain I’d ever had. Had I known, I would have spent the money on a taxi! I am glad you had wheels!

  4. Julia, having lugged something that is 47 pounds on a cart I can’t imagine carrying something that is 50 pounds for 30 minutes. I know for a fact that I couldn’t do it. When I had to carry it up to the 5th floor, even though I had to lift it each step the cart made it a little easier.

You are the true superhero, it seems. Damnit.
