Live Blogging the Emmys

8:26: Actually, I’m tired, going to curl up and just watch. Good night!

8:09: Back from doing The Hive (fun!). I watching The Emmy a little delayed now. Scanning the dancers for anyone from So You Think You Can Dance.

6:52: I have to remember to google killers in the UK named West. They’re talking on Echo about a documentary about them. The discussion piqued my interest. Yes, I know this is not Emmy-related. I have to remember to call The Hive radio show in ten minutes. I was supposed to do it a couple of weeks ago but I missed it because I forgot to look at my calendar. Yes, I am an idiot.

6:49: I just heard a train whistle outside. We don’t have trains. Well, not those kind of trains, or rather, not nearby enough for me hear. What the hell was that??

6:30: Paula Abdul looks lovely, but a little too thin. She has that brittle look (but not her face, she really does look lovely).

6:25: I’ve only been half-heartedly watching. I’ll bet I’ve missed some great dresses. I watched Cat Deeley, because I love her and So You Think You Can Dance.

5:30: Okay, they just admitted nothing is happening until 6. I’ll be back at 6!

5:17: Here. Eating popchips. Nothing really happening yet, the hosts of the red carpet shows and filler. Kelly Osbourne looks amazing.

This is Finney and Buddy this morning, freaking me out. They were both very intent on … something.

Live Blogging The Emmys Later

I’m going to live blog the Emmys today starting at 5, but probably more seriously at 6. But then between 7 and 8 I’m going to stop to talk about my book Unbelievable and parapsychology research on a radio show called The Hive on Para X Radio.

If you click on the link, and then click on Listen Now, you can hear it if you like. There’s also a button to chat and I’ll be in the chat room as well.

You can also call in during the show and ask questions: 978-384-0969.

The host is Erick Bee.

I took this picture of a wedding I passed by after working out yesterday. I didn’t notice the little guy in the lower right at the time.

My TV is BACK!

Backstory: My Time Warner cable has been down since Monday due to a broken cable on the roof.

It began badly. The foreman comes up the stairs empty-handed and alone. “Where are your tools?? The technician??” “I have to verify there is a broken cable on the roof.” They know there’s a broken cable on the roof because their own technician discovered it and I sent them a picture of it. Nothing is going to get fixed. I start to sob.

But this was super foreman! We get to the roof. “Yeah, you have a broken cable,” he says then climbs over to the roof next door. I tried to stop him, I swear. I don’t want my tv that bad that someone must die for it, but he was all “I have a family, I wouldn’t do this if it was really dangerous, don’t worry, I’ve been doing this for a billion years.” He finds an extra cable, disconnects my cable from the broken cable, hooks it up to another tap and I am back in business! My internet connection slows down, but he tells me this is just a temporary solution and he will get someone back on Wednesday to fix everything properly.

A half an hour or so later he’s back with some plant guys. The plant guys look around at the mass of old, kinked and semi-brokens cables all over the roof, scream, then say everything has to be ripped out and completely redone. Before they go though, they FIX my broken cable and hook me back up. My internet connection is better but still slow but apparently all will be well next week.

Everything is back in time for the Emmy’s! I wish I had taken these guy’s names so I could laud them for the great work they did. Actually, I can get their names on Wednesday. Thank you guys.

Day Five Without TV

My editor wanted a little more of me in my book about singing, so I’ve been going back and working in little bits and pieces of my life. Yesterday I managed to work in something about pigeons. We’ll see if they make the final cut, but at the moment I’m happy that pigeons might be in my book about singing.

Time Warner is supposed to be here today between 2 and 5. We shall see what happens!

The city was a beautiful orange last night at 7. This is looking up 7th Avenue.

What the hell is a legume?

I’m sure I’ve asked this before. I think I decided a legume is a bean, but then I read some nutritional study and it said to eat legumes and beans, so that can’t be right. Wait, I just googled it. Legumes are beans. Oh for the love of God. When did we start calling them legumes anyway? I see that they are specifically beans (and some nuts) which come in pods.

I’m still without tv, but I’m determined not to keep posting about it. I took the picture below on 9/11. These are truthers (groan) in front of St. Paul’s Chapel. I haven’t been taking pictures this week so I had to dip back. That “Danger” sign is quite beautifully designed, I have to say.
